Dog servicesin Southlake, TX

A stray dog picked up in Southlake, TX goes to Keller. Southlake shares Regional Animal Services with Keller, Colleyville, Roanoke and Westlake, and strays are taken to the Regional Animal Adoption Center at 330 Rufe Snow Drive in Keller, which the Humane Society of North Texas manages. Search its online stray-pet database and call 817-743-4711. Strays cannot be adopted for three days, which gives owners time to reclaim them. After hours, Southlake's non-emergency dispatch takes animal emergencies at 817-743-4522.

Southlake requires a yearly license for every dog four months or older. To get one, show the shelter a veterinarian's certificate for a rabies vaccine given within the last 12 months, or 36 months for a three-year vaccine. The rabies tag must stay on your dog's collar or harness at all times. A home may keep no more than six dogs and cats over six months old in total.

Tethering rules are stricter here than under state law. Southlake's restraint rule bars leaving a dog tied outside and unattended from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., within 500 feet of a school, below 32 degrees or during a National Weather Service heat advisory. Pinch, prong and choke collars on a tether are treated as unreasonable.
