Grand Prairie, TX has a dog park that never closes. Central Bark Dog Park sits just north of Grand Prairie Animal Services at 2222 W. Warrior Trail and is open 24/7. It covers about three acres, fenced into separate small-dog, large-dog and rotating turf areas, with shade structures, benches, water fountains and a one-way gate system.

If you tether your dog, know the city's rules. Under code section 5-19, tethering is allowed only for a temporary task, no more than three hours in 24. It is banned from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., within 500 feet of a school or school-bus stop, below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, during a heat advisory and during severe storm warnings. Puppies under four months may not be tethered, and pinch, prong and choke collars are not allowed on a tether.

For a lost dog or a barking, bite or dangerous-animal complaint, call Grand Prairie Animal Services at 972-237-8575, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. The Prairie Paws Adoption Center is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. For an animal emergency at any hour, the city says to call 911. Texas law requires a rabies vaccine by four months of age.
