Dog servicesin Arlington, TX

Arlington, TX requires a city license for every dog, renewed each year. The Arlington Animal Services guide lists the license at $7 for a spayed or neutered animal and $30 for an unaltered one, and you will need proof of a current rabies vaccination to get it.

Arlington is also stricter than state law on tethering. Under the city's responsible pet ownership rules, you may not chain, rope, tether or cable a dog to a stationary object or a trolley system, though walking your dog on a hand-held leash is fine. At home, a dog must be restrained or kept in an enclosure. For off-leash time, Tails 'N Trails Dog Park at 950 SE Green Oaks Blvd. offers 5.7 fenced acres with drinking water, wooded areas and open areas. It is free, open during daylight hours and closed each Tuesday until noon for maintenance.

If your dog is lost, the Arlington Animal Services Center is next door at 1000 SE Green Oaks Blvd. It answers at 817-459-5898 and, per its hours page, is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is closed Sunday and Monday. When the center is closed, call 911 for an injured animal or a loose dog that has bitten someone.
