Dog servicesin Garland, TX

Garland, TX has one city-run off-leash spot, the Garland Dog Park at 901 S. Glenbrook. It is three fenced acres with six-foot fencing, double-entry gates and three rotating paddocks: one for dogs 35 pounds or more and one for dogs under 35 pounds. It is open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily unless posted otherwise, and closed Wednesdays until 4 p.m. for maintenance.

Lost dogs can be reported to the shelter or to dispatch at Garland Animal Services: call 972-205-3570, option 1 for service requests and option 2 for shelter staff. The Garland Animal Shelter & Adoption Center is at 1902 State Highway 66, open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day except Wednesday. Emergency calls, such as a bite, a sick or injured animal or one showing signs of rabies, are taken daily from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. on the same line. If you find a dog, the city's found pet guide suggests scanning it for a microchip.

Garland's emergency plan page asks residents to include pets in their plan and to bring copies of shot records and vet information when they evacuate. Texas law requires a rabies vaccine by four months of age, so keep that certificate with your records.
