Dog servicesin University Park, TX

University Park, TX asks for a rabies shot every year, not just the state minimum. Texas requires the vaccine by four months of age, but University Park's code requires every dog over four months old to be vaccinated annually by a Texas-licensed veterinarian, with a certificate and a vaccination tag. Keep the certificate handy: if you cannot show a current one to an animal-control officer, the code treats your dog as unvaccinated. The city also requires dogs to be licensed.

Dogs must be under a person's immediate control by leash, rope or a fenced enclosure, and the city has no dog park or off-leash area. In city parks, a park ordinance sets the leash at 10 feet or shorter. Dogs are not allowed in places that sell food, other than trained service animals, or on Highland Park ISD property without permission.

Animal control runs through the University Park Police Department. For a lost, found or loose dog, call University Park Animal Control through police dispatch at 214-363-3000, the same number after hours. Dallas Animal Services and the Dallas County unit do not cover University Park. For an immediate danger, call 911.
