Dog servicesin Addison, TX

Addison, TX does not run an animal shelter, so a lost or found dog starts with the town's Animal Services office. Addison Animal Services takes lost-animal and found-animal forms by email or in person and posts lost-animal profiles publicly, so check those first if you find a dog. The office answers at 972-450-2845, Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and reclaiming an animal takes an appointment.

Off your property, an Addison dog must be on a leash, and at home it must be behind an adequate fence or on a chain that keeps it from leaving, under the town's animal ordinance. Texas law requires a rabies vaccine by four months of age. Animal Services also microchips pets for Addison residents for $25 per pet.

For off-leash time, the Addison dog parks include Redding Trail Dog Park at 14677 Midway Road, with separate large-dog and small-dog sections, drinking fountains and double-gated entries. It closes Wednesdays for maintenance, and Spruill Dog Park on Marcus Avenue closes Tuesdays. Addison parks are open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. The town also warns about coyotes: keep pet food and water indoors and walk your dog on a leash, especially at night.
