Dog servicesin Plano, TX

If your dog gets out in Plano, TX, plan to look for it in person. Plano Animal Services says its staff cannot give information by phone about dogs impounded for running loose, and a dog found near a city line usually goes to that city's shelter, so visit each nearby shelter yourself. Plano's is at 4028 W. Plano Parkway, open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends. Animal Services answers at 972-769-4360.

Plano also requires you to register your dog with the city, online, by mail or at the shelter, using your dog's rabies paperwork and tag number. Texas law requires that rabies vaccine by four months of age.

Off-leash play belongs in the city's three fenced dog parks: seven acres in Bob Woodruff Park, five in Windhaven Meadows Park and two at Jack Carter Park. Everywhere else, Plano's dog park guide notes that city ordinance requires a leash.
