Dog servicesin Bedford, TX

Bedford, TX is renovating its animal shelter, so for now Bedford Animal Services, part of the Bedford Police Department, works from a temporary shelter in Euless at 201 W. Euless Blvd. The city expects the renovation to run until spring 2027. That is where lost and found dogs, surrenders and pet registration go. The temporary shelter is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call 817-952-2191, or police dispatch at 817-952-2127 after hours.

Bedford requires an annual pet license by city ordinance, and the city says it may issue a citation if you skip it. You can register your dog at the temporary shelter. The license tag also matters at Bedford Bark Park, 3200 Meadow Park Drive, where dogs must be licensed and wear a city-issued tag. The park is open sunrise to sunset, closes Wednesdays from 7 a.m. to noon for maintenance, and has a separate area for dogs under 30 pounds. Its posted rules keep out puppies under six months and allow two dogs per person.

Everywhere else, including parks and walking trails, your dog must be leashed. In summer, check the pavement first: the city's June 2025 newsletter notes that asphalt can reach 125 degrees when the air is 77, so walk during cooler hours and stay on the grass.
