Dog servicesin Prosper, TX

Prosper, TX contracts with Collin County for animal control, so the town's Animal Control page sends residents to Collin County Animal Services for stray dogs, bites, cruelty or neglect, and nuisance animals. Call 972-547-7292. Lost and stray dogs from Prosper are sheltered at 4750 Community Avenue in McKinney, and the county's lost and found page shows sheltered animals and takes lost-pet reports. County animal control keeps an officer on call around the clock for emergencies.

On a walk, Prosper's restraint rules allow a standard leash up to 10 feet or a retractable leash up to 16 feet. The town is stricter than state law about tying out: it generally bans attaching a dog to a stationary object or a trolley system, with a few limited exceptions such as vet visits, grooming and training.

Prosper has no town dog park; its 2025 parks master plan counts zero. Keep rabies shots current, too, since Texas law requires the vaccine by four months of age.
