Dog servicesin Farmersville, TX

Farmersville, TX requires you to register your dog with the city every year once it is six months old. Under the city's animal code, the dog needs a current rabies vaccine first, and the metal city tag must stay on its collar or harness at all times. You can apply in writing or in person.

The same code bans tying a dog to a stationary object or trolley system, though walking it on a hand-held leash is fine. It also treats a dog as endangered when it is shut in a parked car for five or more minutes while it is above 85°F or below 35°F outside. A tethering violation can bring a fine of up to $2,000.

Collin County Animal Services handles animal control for Farmersville under an agreement with the city, with officers working 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and an on-call team around the clock for emergencies like a badly injured animal or a dog attack. You can also reach Farmersville police at 972-782-6141. The county's low-cost pet clinics, held at its McKinney shelter, have offered $5 rabies vaccines.
