Princeton, TX does not run its own shelter. Collin County Animal Services handles animal control for the city and shelters its lost and stray pets, so a missing dog from Princeton will be listed on the county's lost and found page. County animal control is closed on Mondays. For an animal emergency, the county says to dial 911.

In any public place, including streets, sidewalks and parks, Princeton's animal code requires a leash or tether no longer than six feet. At home, a dog tied or staked on an open or unfenced lot must not be able to come within 10 feet of a street, sidewalk, park or building, the tether must be at least 10 feet long, and it cannot cut the dog off from shelter, food or water.

For off-leash time, the city lists a dog park at J.M. Caldwell Sr. Community Park, 500 W College Avenue, open 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. Keep rabies shots current: Texas law requires the vaccine by four months of age.
