Dog servicesin Sugar Land, TX

If your dog slips out in Sugar Land, TX, report it on the city's online Sugar Land Pet Finder, where neighbors also post dogs they have found. A found dog listed there stays with the person who found it unless city officers pick it up, so check the listings as well as the shelter. Sugar Land Animal Services, at 101B Gillingham Lane, answers at 281-275-ADOG (2364) and is closed to the public on Wednesday and Sunday. For an after-hours animal emergency, call 281-275-2020.

Sugar Land has no city dog license or registration program, and the shelter does not accept owner surrenders. Texas still requires a rabies vaccine by four months of age, and you will need proof of it at the dog park.

That park is Pawm Springs Dog Park at Memorial Park, 15300 University Boulevard: six acres with a fenced small-dog area, a fenced area for all sizes, a pond and rinse stations. It is open sunrise to sunset, Tuesday through Sunday, and closed Mondays for maintenance. Dogs must be at least four months old, current on vaccines and wearing license tags, and you carry the rabies certificate and a leash, with two dogs per adult at most. In every other city park and trail, dogs stay on a leash and out of the water.
