Dog servicesin Richmond, TX

Richmond, TX is served by Fort Bend County Animal Services, a county department at 1840 Richmond Parkway that handles loose dogs, bites, lost and found pets, adoptions and owner surrenders for Richmond. Call 281-341-4665, and check the county's lost and found pet information if your dog goes missing.

Under Richmond's animal code, every dog four months or older needs a rabies vaccine, and a family moving to Richmond has 30 days to catch up. The city does not recognize home vaccinations, so the shot has to come through a vet. A dog bite must be reported right away to the police.

Off your property, a Richmond dog must be under a person's control on a leash or chain; inside a building or fenced area is fine at home. A female dog in heat must be securely confined at home. At Wessendorff Park, pets are welcome under direct control on a leash no longer than six feet.
