Dog servicesin Sanger, TX

Sanger, TX does not run its own shelter. The city contracts with All American Dogs, a private company based in Pilot Point, for animal patrol, strays and lost and found pets. If your dog goes missing, the City of Sanger's animal control page says to call 972-382-3647 to find out whether Animal Control picked it up. Routine calls are handled 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. After hours and on weekends, only emergencies are covered, such as an injured or biting dog whose owner cannot be found.

Every dog over four months old needs an annual city registration permit. Under the Sanger code, you show proof of rabies vaccination, pay the permit fee and get a metal tag that goes on the collar. Sanger also requires a rabies booster within 12 months of the first shot. Registration questions go to the Sanger Police Department at 940-458-7444.

The code keeps all animals in the city under restraint at all times and limits a home to three adult dogs or cats in any combination, plus one litter. Sanger has no city dog park. In city parks, dogs must be on a leash no longer than 10 feet and stay out of swimming areas and the beach next to them.
