Dog servicesin Georgetown, TX

Georgetown, TX requires a city license for every dog at least four months old that lives in the city for 30 days or more. Under city code section 7.02.010, the license lasts one year, needs proof of rabies vaccination before the tag is issued, and the tag must stay attached to your dog's collar or harness. Off your property, a leash can be no longer than six feet.

Georgetown's shelter services moved to the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter on July 14, 2025. Its Georgetown location is the Red Poppy Adoptique at 110 W. L. Walden Drive, and the county shelter line is 512-943-3322. If your dog is missing, search the county's lost animals page. For dog bites and animal calls, the city lists the Georgetown Police non-emergency number, 512-930-3510.

Georgetown is stricter than state law on tethering: a dog generally may not be chained or tied unless a person is holding the restraint. For open play, The Bark Park at 151 Holly Street, next to the McMaster Complex, has about six acres with separate small and large dog areas and an agility course. It is open 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., and dogs should be vaccinated and wear current license tags.
