Dog servicesin Forney, TX

Forney, TX has some of the more detailed tethering rules around. Under city code Article 2.04, a dog may not be left tied up outside and unattended when it is below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, during a heat advisory, or during a National Weather Service hurricane, tropical storm or tornado warning. Unattended tethering is also banned from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. and within 500 feet of a school, and a tethered dog always needs shelter, shade and drinkable water.

If your dog goes missing inside city limits, contact the City of Forney Animal Shelter at 201 Holly Leaf Trail, 972-552-6634. It is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Outside city limits, the city directs residents to Kaufman County Animal Control. After hours, animal emergencies go to the Forney Police Department at 972-552-6625.

Forney's rabies rule starts earlier than you might expect: every dog three months or older must be vaccinated, then revaccinated at one year, and after that every year or every three years depending on the vaccine. If you are moving to Forney, you have five days to comply. Dogs must be restrained at all times, and you must pick up after your dog in parks, on streets and sidewalks and on other people's property.
