Dog servicesin Cleburne, TX

Cleburne, TX does not require a city pet license, the city's FAQ says, but the city does require your dog to wear a current rabies tag. Under Cleburne's rabies ordinance, every dog four months or older must be vaccinated and then revaccinated every year, and if you move to Cleburne you have 10 days to comply.

Cleburne Animal Services runs the city shelter at 2375 Service Drive, open Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call 817-556-8895. A stray dog is held at least three days, not counting the day it arrives, and a dog with a rabies tag or microchip is held 10 days. If you find a dog and keep it, report it to Animal Services or the shelter within 72 hours. Bites, injured or aggressive animals and dogs running loose go to the police non-emergency line, monitored 24 hours a day, at 817-645-0972.

Cleburne also has its own tethering rule: you may not tie a dog to a stationary object, only use a trolley or cable-run system, and the dog must have shelter, food, shade and water. At home a dog must be contained so it cannot leave, and away from home it must be on a leash. Animal Services serves city residents only, and Johnson County residents outside the city limits contact the Johnson County Sheriff's Office at 817-556-6045.
