Dog servicesin Alvarado, TX

Alvarado, TX asks owners to register their pets with the city, and it costs nothing. The Alvarado Animal Control page says no fees are charged for city license registration; you register at the Alvarado Animal Services building. The same page lists low-cost Texas Coalition for Animal Protection vaccine clinics at 602 South Parkway Drive, with rabies shots at $5.00. Dogs must come on a short leash.

Dogs may not run at large anywhere in the city. Under Alvarado's animal rules, a dog is not at large when someone holds it on a leash or chain of proper strength and length or it is inside a vehicle, and the Animal Control Officer can impound a loose dog. The same rules cap a household at four dogs over four months of age, and a female in heat must be kept in a secured area away from male dogs.

Alvarado Animal Services is part of the police department and handles strays, complaints and adoptions inside city limits. Call 817-790-0910, or the emergency line at 817-556-6060. The city parks list shows no dog park, so plan on leashed walks.
