Dog servicesin The Woodlands, TX

The Woodlands, TX is an unincorporated, Census-designated community that spans parts of Montgomery and Harris counties, so which agency handles your dog depends on your address. The Woodlands Township runs parks and community services but not animal control. Its animal control page sends residents to the county for strays, bites, aggressive animals and lost or found pets: Montgomery County Health Department Animal Control in the Montgomery County portion, and Harris County Veterinary Public Health, at 281-999-3191, in the Harris County portion. For an emergency, call 911.

For off-leash play, the Township runs dog parks at Bear Branch, Terramont, Harper's Landing and Tamarac. Bear Branch Park, at 5200 Research Forest Drive, is open dawn to dusk daily. Township park rules bar swimming in the lakes and ponds.

Coyotes live here too. The Township's coyote guidance asks owners in areas with sightings to keep dogs under full control. In summer, the National Weather Service's pet heat guidance warns that a pet left in a parked car can die of heatstroke within 15 minutes, and cracking the windows does not make it safe.
