Dog servicesin Saginaw, TX

If you are used to tying a dog out in the yard, Saginaw, TX works differently. Saginaw's animal code generally bans attaching a dog to a stationary object or a trolley system, which goes further than the state restraint law. The city lists limited exceptions, such as veterinary care, grooming and training, and even then the dog needs a fitted collar or harness, shelter and clean water. At home, a dog must be kept in by a fence strong and tall enough to stop an escape.

The same code limits a residence to five adult dogs and cats in any combination. Off your property, your dog needs a leash or chain strong enough to control it, except inside a city-owned dog park. Picking up after your dog matters here too: the code bars leaving droppings on a neighbor's property or on streets, sidewalks, parks and playgrounds.

The City of Saginaw Animal Services and Adoption Center, at 205 Brenda Lane, is run by the city and handles strays, impounded dogs, owner reclaims and adoptions. If your dog bites someone, the code requires 10 days of observation. Texas law requires a rabies vaccine by four months of age, and a current certificate from your veterinarian keeps that paperwork ready.
