Dog servicesin Red Oak, TX

Red Oak, TX requires every dog over six months old to be registered with the city each year. Under the city's dog rules, a current rabies vaccine comes first, since the code requires yearly rabies vaccination before registration, and the registration tag must stay on the dog's collar or harness.

Red Oak is also stricter than state law about tying dogs out. A dog must be on a leash or chain held by a person, behind a fence strong and high enough to stop an escape, or inside the house, and it may not be tethered except while it is being walked on a leash. The city's Running at Large page sums up the rule, and Red Oak has no city dog park, so leash rules apply in parks too.

For a loose or lost dog, call Red Oak Animal Control at (469) 218-7721. Calls are taken Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the office at 409 W. Red Oak Road is staffed onsite weekdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The emergency line is (972) 775-3333.
