Dog servicesin Lancaster, TX

If your dog goes missing in Lancaster, TX, call the city's animal shelter and check the Lost or Found Animals page, which links to the city's Lost Pet Finder. Lancaster Animal Services runs the shelter at 690 E. Main St., open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and closed Sunday. Reach the shelter at 972-218-1210 or Animal Control at 972-218-1200, and give the dog's description and any tag information.

The same page reminds owners that a dog off its home property must be leashed and controlled, or kept confined at home. A bite, an attack or a badly injured animal is an emergency: call 911. The shelter does not treat sick animals, so an ill dog needs a veterinarian. Texas law also requires a rabies vaccine by four months of age.

Adopting? Lancaster's shelter charges $25 for a large dog and $15 for a small dog or puppy. Each adopted dog must be vaccinated against rabies and spayed or neutered within 30 days.
