Dog servicesin Northlake, TX

Northlake, TX contracts with All American Dogs for animal control and sheltering, so a missing or loose dog starts with a call to 972-382-3647, the number on the town's Animal Control page. Call quickly: the town code allows an unclaimed impounded animal to be humanely put down after at least 72 hours. For a non-emergency, the Denton County Sheriff's Office takes calls at 940-349-1600, extension 9, and sends a Northlake officer. Call 911 in an emergency.

Northlake asks more of rabies shots than state law does. Its dogs and cats rules require the first vaccine by four months of age and then a shot every year, and refusing to show the vaccination certificate when asked is an offense.

A dog counts as running at large unless it is fully confined by a building, cage, wall, leash, rope, chain, vehicle or strong fence. For open space, the town's Centerpoint Preserve covers 32 acres with a dog park, a walking and jogging path and a picnic pavilion.
