Dog servicesin Midlothian, TX

If your dog gets loose in Midlothian, TX, fill out the city's Lost/Found Pet Information Form on the Animal Services page and call the shelter at 469-672-0971; lost and found pets are also posted on the city's Animal Control Facebook page. The shelter sees visitors by appointment only, Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed from noon to 1 p.m. After hours, a loose dog or an injured animal goes to dispatch at 972-775-3333. A dangerous or aggressive dog is a 911 call.

The city's off-leash spot is the four-acre Midlothian Dog Park, 1111 Walter Stephenson Road, south of the Highway 287 Bypass, with separate small and large dog areas, agility equipment and a walking trail. Its posted rules ask for license and vaccine tags on the collar, no dogs under four months, no spike, pinch or prong collars and no more than two dogs per handler.

In other city parks, leashed pets are welcome, but not on sport fields. Summer heat is a real risk here: a July 22, 2026 National Weather Service warning for Midlothian reported heat-index values up to 120 and advised never leaving pets in an enclosed vehicle, even for a short time.
