Dog servicesin Conroe, TX

Conroe, TX leaves animal sheltering to the county. Montgomery County Animal Services, run by Montgomery County rather than the city, handles lost and found animals, adoptions, owner surrenders and animal control for the area that includes Conroe. Its shelter is at 8535 SH 242, and you can book an animal intake appointment online. If your dog is impounded, move quickly: Conroe's animal ordinance gives owners a three-day redemption period to show ownership and pay any vaccination, impounding and boarding charges. After that, the dog may be released for adoption or transferred to a rescue.

Conroe has no general city dog license, but the same ordinance requires every dog over four months old to be vaccinated against rabies and to wear a collar with a numbered metal rabies tag from a state-licensed veterinarian. A missing tag, or one more than a year old, counts as evidence your dog is not vaccinated unless you can show the official certificate. Dogs may not run loose anywhere in the city: keep yours on a leash or securely inside a fence or enclosure.
