Dog servicesin Temple, TX

In Temple, TX, dogs must be kept under restraint, and a dog found at large can be impounded. Animal Services is a city division overseen by the Temple Police Department, and the two share enforcement of the Temple animal code. The code does allow some off-leash time: on your own property under a responsible person's immediate control, wearing a working electronic collar while under control and obeying commands, in a designated dog park, or at a real animal show or field trial.

When a dog is tied out and left alone, Texas's restraint law applies in Temple. The dog needs shelter, shade, drinking water and a place away from standing water and waste, and the restraint cannot be a chain, carry weights or be shorter than 10 feet or five times the dog's length, whichever is longer. Walking your dog on a handheld leash is not affected.
