Dog servicesin Corinth, TX

Corinth, TX shares its animal shelter with a neighbor. The city contracts with the Town of Hickory Creek, so adoptions, redemptions and owner releases go through the Hickory Creek Animal Shelter at 970 Main Street in Hickory Creek, reached at 940-465-7444. According to Corinth Animal Control, every other animal-service call goes to the Denton County Sheriff's Department at 940-349-1600, option 9, and an emergency animal bite goes to 911.

Corinth requires every dog and cat over three months old to be registered with the city each year, at $10 per animal, with the fee waived for service animals. You can register at the Corinth Police Department or Hickory Creek Town Hall during business hours; bring proof of a current rabies vaccine from a licensed veterinarian. State rules require that vaccine by 16 weeks of age. The city also recommends a microchip, which is voluntary.

Away from a secure fenced yard, Corinth's running-at-large rule means your dog must be on a chain, leash or similar device close enough to stay under your direct control, or inside a vehicle. The city may impound a dog running at large, and the code also bars frequent or long-continued barking that disturbs others. If your dog stays outside unattended on a tether, Texas law requires adequate shelter, shade and drinking water, and the restraint may not be a chain.
