# Dog Service Prices in Tennessee: What Nashville, Memphis, Knoxville and Chattanooga Charge

By [Cal Hewitt](https://dogserv.com/authors/calvin-hewitt/) · Published September 7, 2026

![Happy Catahoula leopard dog sitting on a brick sidewalk outside a small pet-care storefront with a blank chalkboard sign and hanging ferns](https://dogserv.com/blog/dog-service-prices-in-tennessee/featured.jpg)

Tennessee dog-service prices vary by city, service length, dog size, coat condition, location and what the business includes. A dated Nashville example lists [30-minute walks at $16 to $25 and 60-minute walks at $28.31 to $37.31](https://www.rover.com/blog/nashville-tn-dog-walking-price/), and a Nashville daycare menu lists [$34 for a half day and $45 for a full day](https://www.thebelmontpetresort.com/dog-daycare).

Grooming menus show baths and full grooms as starting prices that change with size and coat. These are customer prices, not employee wages or Tennessee averages, so compare each menu by service, assumptions, add-ons, cancellation policy and tax treatment.

### Key takeaways

- A published price is one business's menu on one date. It is not a Tennessee average and not a promise of what you will pay or earn.
- A customer price, an employee wage, owner revenue and owner profit are four different numbers.
- Walks, drop-in visits, home sitting, daycare and boarding are priced by different units, so compare per walk with per walk and per night with per night.
- Grooming prices are starting prices; dog size, coat and condition move the final quote.
- Tennessee business tax has two license tiers, a $15 minimal-activity license and a standard license, and your county clerk and city office handle them.
- Zoning, home-occupation, fire and animal-control rules change by city and county, so ask the local office before you set a menu.

I'm Cal, and pricing pages are a big part of the websites I build for dog businesses. I'm not a lawyer, accountant or vet, so the prices below come from named menus and pages, each with its date, and the legal and tax points come from the office that decides them. Use the numbers to budget or to sanity-check your own menu, then confirm with the business or the office.

## What do dog services cost in Tennessee, and why is a customer price not a wage?

There is no single Tennessee [price for a dog walk](https://dogserv.com/how-much-to-charge-for-dog-walking/) or a [night of boarding](https://dogserv.com/opening-a-dog-boarding-kennel-in-tennessee/). What you can find are local menus: a platform page for one city, a shop's price list, a facility's rate sheet. Each one tells you what that business or platform charged on a particular date under particular assumptions.

If you are a customer, that is enough to budget. Pick the service, find two or three menus in your city, and write down the unit (per walk, per hour, per night, per day), the dog size and what is included.

If you are an owner, keep four numbers apart. The customer price is what the person pays you. An employee wage is what a business pays a worker. Your revenue is everything customers pay you, and your profit is what is left after time, supplies, travel, insurance, taxes and slow weeks. A $30 walk is not a $30 hourly wage, and a Tennessee wage figure is not what an owner takes home.

## What do dog walks cost in Nashville?

Nashville has the clearest dated numbers, from [Rover's Nashville page](https://www.rover.com/blog/nashville-tn-dog-walking-price/), which says its data is from September 2025 and excludes taxes:

- A 30-minute walk runs $16 to $25, with a Rover Nashville average of $20.70.
- A 60-minute walk runs $28.31 to $37.31.
- A typical 30-minute drop-in visit is $21.28.
- An additional dog adds about $12.30 per walk.
- A puppy walk example is $22.84.
- A holiday example is about $26.45 per day.

The three services are not the same product. A 30-minute walk is time-limited exercise and potty care. A drop-in is a visit that can include a potty break, play and company without a walking focus. A 60-minute walk is more service time, and it does not have to cost double the 30-minute price, so check the actual menu before you assume it.

For Memphis, Knoxville and Chattanooga, check each platform's current city page or a named local walker's menu, and write down whether the figure is per walk, per visit or per hour. The DogServ directory has [Tennessee city pages](https://dogserv.com/directory/tennessee/) for each of these cities where you can find [local walkers](https://dogserv.com/directory/dog-walkers/) and sitters.

## What does overnight sitting cost, and how is it different from a facility suite?

Overnight care comes in three forms, and they should not be compared as if they were identical. A sitter in your home keeps your dog's routine. A sitter in their own home brings your dog into theirs. A staffed facility's suite is lodging with structured play, staff supervision, cleaning, and sometimes cameras, meals or scheduled breaks.

For sitters, [Care.com's Nashville page](https://www.care.com/cost/dog-sitters/nashville-tn) lists a dog-sitter starting rate of $16.12 per hour and a maximum average of $23.67 per hour as of September 2026. That is an hourly sitter rate rather than a nightly price, so ask any sitter for a written nightly rate before you budget. Get the hours that count as overnight, the number of pets, and the travel, holiday and cancellation terms in writing.

For facility lodging, Nashville menus run from [$45 to $60 per night at Peace Love and Paws](https://peacelovepawsnashville.com/rates-and-services) to [boarding from $69 per night at Pet Resorts of America](https://www.petresortsofamerica.com/dog-boarding). [Miss Kitty's](https://www.misskittysnashville.com/) lists boarding at $115 to $130 per night. A gap that wide usually means the services differ, so read what each suite includes.

If you run a sitting business, the costly mistake is pricing a night at the hourly rate and forgetting that you are on call for the whole stay. Write down what your overnight covers, and price the responsibility, not only the hours.

## What do daycare and boarding cost in Nashville and Knoxville?

Named menus show how many separate lines a facility can have. Here is what each lists.

**Nashville, Belmont Pet Resort** ([daycare page](https://www.thebelmontpetresort.com/dog-daycare)):

- Half day, $34; full day, $45.
- Boarding after 6:30 p.m., $75.
- Packages of 10 days for $405, 20 days for $765 and 30 days for $1,080.
- A second temperament test, $25.

**Nashville, Peace Love and Paws** ([rates page](https://peacelovepawsnashville.com/rates-and-services)):

- Small kennel, $45 per night; medium and large kennel, $55; extra-large or private boarding, $60.
- A 50% deposit for holiday boarding.
- Non-holiday cancellation needs 24 hours' notice; holiday cancellation needs one week, and a late cancellation loses the deposit.
- Daycare is included for approved group-play boarding guests.

**Nashville, Pet Resorts of America** ([boarding page](https://www.petresortsofamerica.com/dog-boarding)):

- Day boarding at $40 for a single day.
- Pickup after 1 p.m. during an overnight stay adds day boarding at the same rate.
- Boarding starts at $69 per night.

**Knoxville, Pet Resorts** ([daycare page](https://www.petresorts.com/daycare/)):

- A single day at $25.
- A 10-day package at $187.50 and a 20-day package at $350.
- VIP sessions at $15 each, which must be added to a daycare package.

The point for a customer is that the headline rate is rarely the whole bill. Late pickup, a second temperament test, a holiday deposit or a VIP add-on can change the total. For Memphis, Chattanooga, Clarksville and Murfreesboro, get the facility's current written menu and record the day type, lodging type, included play, add-ons, holiday, travel, late-pickup and cancellation terms before you compare it to anything above.

## What does grooming cost by dog size and coat?

Grooming menus almost always state starting prices. The final quote depends on size, coat, matting, behavior and haircut style, so a "from" price is a floor for a specific kind of dog, not what every dog pays.

In Nashville, [Hillcrest Kennel and Grooming](https://hillcrestkennelandgrooming.com/dog-grooming-nashville) lists baths from $48 and full grooms from $95 for small dogs. Its full groom includes bath, drying, nails, ears, anal-gland expression, haircut and styling, and it says size and coat affect the final price. [PawsRx](https://pawsrx.io/grooming/prices/nashville) compiles named Nashville menus with a 2026 compilation date, showing $20 to $95 for bath and brush and $43 to $145 for a full groom. Those are ranges across different shops and different assumptions, so treat them as a spread, not an average.

[Mobile grooming](https://dogserv.com/starting-a-mobile-dog-grooming-business-in-tennessee/) costs more, because the van and the drive come with the service. In Memphis, [Dawg Team's booking page](https://dawgteamproducts.com/booking/) lists mobile full-groom starting prices of $137.50 for long-haired dogs weighing 16 to 25 pounds, $162.50 for 26 to 50 pounds and $187.50 for 51 to 75 pounds. It also lists a mobile bath-only price of $162.50 for a 51 to 75 pound dog. In Southeast Nashville, [Woofie's](https://www.woofies.com/southeast-nashville/services/mobile-pet-grooming/) lists a mobile luxury bath from $96 and a full groom from $112, with price affected by breed, weight, coat condition and temperament.

A bath and a full groom are different services. Ask which one a price covers, and what dog size and coat it assumes. For Knoxville and Chattanooga, pull a named shop's current menu and record size, coat, date, inclusions and the starting-price wording.

## What do training and mobile services cost in Clarksville, Murfreesboro and smaller towns?

For training, mobile grooming and similar services in Clarksville, Murfreesboro and smaller Tennessee towns, the number that counts is the one in a named business's own current menu or written quote. Ask for the service, the duration, the dog assumptions, the travel area, any add-ons and the date, and write them down.

If you run a business in one of these towns, a dated, plain menu on your own site or directory listing is an opening, because it answers the first question every customer has. Link the menu to your Tennessee city page in the DogServ directory, show the date on it, and leave out any statewide or regional average.

## What do the BLS Tennessee wage estimates measure?

People searching for a dog walker's pay often land on wage data, so here is what it covers. The [Bureau of Labor Statistics May 2023 figures for Tennessee](https://www.bls.gov/oes/2023/may/oes_tn.htm) list:

- Animal caretakers: 7,220 jobs, a $14.18 mean hourly wage and a $30,310 mean annual wage.
- Animal trainers: 280 jobs, a $16.74 mean hourly wage and a $48,800 mean annual wage.

BLS states that these detailed occupation estimates exclude self-employed workers, and the annual figure uses a full-time, year-round calculation where it applies. They describe what employers pay employees. They do not measure customer prices, owner revenue, gross margin or profit.

That matters if you are asking how much a dog walker earns in a month. The wage figures answer it for employees. An owner-operator's month depends on how many paid hours fill the calendar, and what is left after the costs in the next section.

## What costs does a price have to recover, and what Tennessee business-tax facts apply?

A menu price has to pay for more than the minutes on the clock. Cost categories to count are:

- A Tennessee entity filing if you form an LLC, and an assumed-name filing if it applies.
- Local or county business-license fees and Tennessee business tax.
- Insurance, and labor and payroll obligations if you hire.
- Grooming tools, shampoo, dryers, clippers and replacement parts.
- Leashes, cleaning, sanitation and waste supplies.
- Vehicle, fuel and travel time for mobile or visiting services.
- Rent, utilities, software, payment processing and marketing.
- Training, inspections or facility improvements where they apply.
- Deposits, cancellations and appointment slots that go unfilled.

For business tax, the [Tennessee Department of Revenue](https://revenue.support.tn.gov/hc/en-us/articles/360057134532-BUS-13-Business-Licenses-Overview) says a business with gross receipts above $3,000 and below $100,000 generally needs a $15 minimal-activity license. A business at $100,000 or more needs a standard license and pays at least the $22 minimum business tax. The county clerk, and the city official where it applies, issues the license, as its [registration and licensing page](https://www.tn.gov/revenue/taxes/business-tax/registration-and-licensing.html.html) explains. Confirm entity and assumed-name fees with the Tennessee Secretary of State before you budget them.

This is a business-tax license, not a permit for every dog service. For the details, read our [Tennessee dog business license requirements guide](https://dogserv.com/tennessee-dog-business-license-requirements/). For whether a bath, a groom or another service is taxable, and how to show tax on a menu, read the [Tennessee sales tax on pet services guide](https://dogserv.com/tennessee-sales-tax-on-pet-services/). I can't give you a ruling, so the Department of Revenue is the office to ask.

## How do I build a menu, and how do I compare one?

Whether you are choosing a provider or building your own menu, the same checklist works. Write down each line for every menu you look at:

1. The city and the service.
2. The duration, or what counts as overnight.
3. The dog size and coat assumption.
4. What is included and what costs extra.
5. Travel, holiday and additional-dog fees.
6. Cancellation, deposit and late-pickup terms.
7. Whether the listed price includes tax.
8. The date you looked.
9. Which numbers are customer prices and which are employee wages.

As an owner, add your own costs from the section above, plus the hours you will not be able to bill. Then publish the finished menu with its date, the definition of each service, and the add-ons and cancellation terms. A customer who can read your terms before booking is a customer who does not feel surprised later. The DogServ directory can carry that menu on your listing; our Claim Your Listing and List Your Business pages explain how.

Local rules sit beside the state license. Ask the city planning or codes office, county zoning office, county or municipal clerk, fire marshal or animal-control office about the points that apply to your address:

- Whether the address allows grooming, walking, sitting, boarding, daycare or training.
- Whether home-occupation approval is required.
- Limits on customer visits, employees, noise, parking or outdoor runs.
- Whether a kennel, boarding or daycare approval is required.
- Occupancy, egress or inspection approval from the building or fire office.
- Licensing, capacity, nuisance or sanitation rules from animal control.
- Mobile-grooming parking, wastewater or signage rules from the planning or codes office.
- Whether county rules differ outside city limits.

No single Tennessee home dog-count limit covers every location, so the answer for your address comes from the local office. The Tennessee Department of Agriculture's [animal-health rules page](https://www.tn.gov/agriculture/animals/animal-health-resources/animal-health-forms-regs.html) lists Chapter 0080-02-12 on dogs and cats and Chapter 0080-02-15 on dog and cat dealers; read the current rule text there if your business falls under them.

## Questions people ask about dog service prices in Tennessee

### How much do dog walkers charge in Tennessee?

Rover's September 2025 Nashville data lists $16 to $25 for a 30-minute walk, with an average of $20.70, and $28.31 to $37.31 for 60 minutes. Taxes are excluded, and this is one city's platform data rather than a statewide rate. Check the current city page for Memphis, Knoxville or Chattanooga.

### How much does a dog sitter charge per night or per day?

Facility nights in Nashville run from $45 to $60 at Peace Love and Paws and from $69 at Pet Resorts of America. Care.com lists Nashville sitters at $16.12 to $23.67 per hour as of September 2026, so ask any individual sitter for a written nightly or daily rate and what it covers.

### How much is an hour of dog walking?

Rover lists $28.31 to $37.31 for a 60-minute Nashville walk. A 60-minute walk is not simply two 30-minute walks, so compare the menu's own 60-minute price.

### How much does a dog walker earn a month?

BLS lists Tennessee animal caretakers at a $14.18 mean hourly wage and $30,310 mean annual wage as employees, and it excludes self-employed workers. An owner's monthly income depends on booked hours and costs, and no figure here predicts it.

## What should you do next?

If you are booking, choose the service and city, then gather two or three dated menus and run each through the checklist above. If you run a dog business, write your menu with the service definitions, add-ons, cancellation terms and a date, and check your license tier and local rules with the offices named here.

Finding customers is the other half of a menu. [Add your business to DogServ](https://dogserv.com/directory/add-a-business/), or [claim your listing](https://dogserv.com/directory/claim-your-listing/) if you are already there, so the menu you wrote is where Tennessee dog owners can read it. If you want help turning that menu into a pricing page, [get in touch](https://dogserv.com/contact/).
