# Dog Service Prices in Georgia: Grooming, Walking, Sitting and Boarding Examples

By [Cal Hewitt](https://dogserv.com/authors/calvin-hewitt/) · Published October 1, 2026

Georgia has no single statewide price for dog services; what you can compare are dated menus from named providers. In Atlanta, one 2026 rate sheet lists a $25 potty break, a $35 30-minute visit and a $55 60-minute visit, while a published grooming menu runs from $105 for a small full groom to $185 for an extra-large dog.

Grooming, walking, sitting and boarding are four different services with four different price structures, and a wage is not a price. Treat every figure below as an example, and confirm your own menu with your own costs.

### Key takeaways

- Georgia dog-service prices are published examples from named providers, not one statewide rate.
- Grooming, walking and sitting, daycare and boarding each price differently; compare like with like.
- BLS reported Georgia May 2023 mean wages of $14.17 an hour for animal caretakers and $22.54 for animal trainers. Those are employee wages, not owner revenue or profit.
- A state filing such as the $110 paper LLC fee does not answer city or county questions on occupational tax, zoning or home occupation.
- Confirm any kennel or pet dealer question with the Georgia Department of Agriculture before you publish a boarding price.

I wrote this for two readers at once: the owner checking whether a quote is fair, and the [walker](https://dogserv.com/directory/dog-walkers/), sitter, [groomer](https://dogserv.com/directory/dog-groomers/) or [boarding operator](https://dogserv.com/directory/dog-boarding/) building a menu. If you are the second reader, keep one rule in mind from the start. A price has to cover the work, the drive, the supplies, the insurance and the tax, and only then leave something for you.

## What does dog grooming cost in Georgia by size?

Size is the first thing a groomer prices. [Paw Palace Atlanta](https://atlpawpalace.com/grooming) publishes a menu with four size bands, and the full groom includes a bath, blow-dry, haircut or trim, nail trim, ear cleaning and a bandana or bow.

Paw Palace Atlanta grooming menu (accessed October 2026)

| Service | Small, under 20 lb | Medium, 20 to 50 lb | Large, 50 to 80 lb | XL, over 80 lb |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| ServiceBath and brush | Small, under 20 lb$65 | Medium, 20 to 50 lb$75 | Large, 50 to 80 lb$85 | XL, over 80 lb$95 |
| ServiceFull groom | Small, under 20 lb$105 | Medium, 20 to 50 lb$130 | Large, 50 to 80 lb$150 | XL, over 80 lb$185 |

[Groomed by Adrian](https://groomedbyadrian.com/book/) lists starting full-groom prices of $80 for small, $85 for medium, $95 for large, $105 for XL and $115 for XXL, with baths from $50 to $70. Both shops say the final price can move with breed, coat condition and the size of the dog.

That is what "starting at" means. It is the price for a dog with an easy coat, and the groomer may adjust it after seeing your dog. If you are the customer, ask what moves the number: matting, a long double coat, behavior, add-ons like de-shedding. If you are the groomer, put those triggers on the menu in writing so the price at the table never surprises anyone.

## What does a dog walk cost in Atlanta?

Here is where the name of the service matters most. The [ATL 2026 rate sheet](https://www.packleadersatl.com/2026-rates) from an Atlanta pet-care company prices these separately:

Atlanta walking and visit rates (2026 rate sheet)

| Service | Price |
| --- | --- |
| Service15-minute potty break, as needed | Price$25 |
| Service30-minute visit | Price$35 |
| Service45-minute visit | Price$45 |
| Service60-minute visit | Price$55 |

A drop-in normally means a visit to the client's home for relief, feeding, water, basic care and a check-in. A timed walk is a different job. Whatever you sell, your menu should say whether the clock covers the walk itself or also includes travel, entry, leash preparation and notes for the owner. A 30-minute visit that includes five minutes of paperwork and a leash search is a 25-minute walk, and the price has to say so.

The same rate sheet lists a $15 fee per dog per 24-hour period for an intact adult dog, and it lists a 45-minute walk-and-train session at $85, which is a [training service](https://dogserv.com/directory/dog-trainers/) and not an ordinary walk. If you are comparing quotes as an owner, line up the minutes and the inclusions first, then the dollars. For deeper rate-setting math, see [how much to charge for dog walking](https://dogserv.com/how-much-to-charge-for-dog-walking/).

## What do sitters charge per night in Georgia?

Overnight care has three dated Atlanta examples:

- [Wag](https://wagwalking.com/dog-boarding/ga-atlanta) reports about $50 per night, with most stays between $42 and $62, on data dated August 5, 2026.
- [Rover](https://www.rover.com/atlanta--ga--pet-boarding/) shows $35 to $52 per night in its Atlanta figures, with a $46.22 average, and its current page shows $43 dated October 2026.
- [Spot for Dogs](https://spotfordogs.com/atlanta/) lists Atlanta suites at $54 for Standard, $72 for Luxury, $82 for Premium and $102 for the Deluxe Air Stream, plus a $5 per night peak rate in selected 2026 periods.

Those numbers describe two different services. A home sitter or home boarder cares for a dog in a private residence, where household limits, resident animals and the supervision plan vary. A facility suite is a commercial product with space, staff, cleaning, hours and capacity behind it. If you sell either one, say which one you are selling, because a customer comparing a $43 home stay to a $102 suite is not comparing the same night.

## What do Atlanta daycare and boarding cost?

[Atlanta Pet Boarding](https://www.atldogboarding.com/pricing) in Austell publishes daycare and boarding prices that show how packages and add-ons change a total:

Atlanta Pet Boarding daycare and boarding (accessed October 2026)

| Item | Price |
| --- | --- |
| ItemFull-day drop-in | Price$40 |
| ItemHalf-day drop-in | Price$25 |
| ItemFive-day full-day week | Price$150 |
| ItemFive-day half-day week | Price$90 |
| ItemThree-day full-day package | Price$110 |
| ItemMonthly weekday subscription | Price$500 |
| ItemAdditional boarding dog | Price$68 per day |
| ItemHouse food, when required | Price$5 per day per dog |
| ItemBoarding refresher training | Price$25 per 30-minute session |

Spot for Dogs lists full-day daycare at $33 and half-day daycare at $22. Add-ons, holiday charges and extra-dog fees are specific to each menu, so a business should show them as separate lines instead of implying that every daycare or boarding price already includes them. As an owner, ask for the full list before you book. As an operator, a line item you can point to is much easier to defend than a surprise at pickup.

## What do BLS wages say about animal caretakers and trainers?

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' [Georgia May 2023 estimates](https://www.bls.gov/oes/2023/may/oes_ga.htm) report:

BLS Georgia employee wages, May 2023

| Occupation | Workers | Mean hourly wage | Mean annual wage |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| OccupationAnimal caretakers | Workers9,100 | Mean hourly wage$14.17 | Mean annual wage$29,470 |
| OccupationAnimal trainers | Workers540 | Mean hourly wage$22.54 | Mean annual wage$46,870 |

These numbers describe employees in an occupation. They do not tell you what a business charges, how many billable hours an owner actually gets, whether a worker is an employee or a contractor, or what is left after travel, supplies, rent, insurance, taxes, software and cancellations. So, do not read $14.17 as the right price for an hour of care, and do not read it as what an owner makes. A customer price is revenue for the business; the wage is one cost inside it, and profit is whatever remains after all of them.

## What do smaller Georgia towns charge?

Smaller towns publish fewer menus, but they exist. [Nice Pet Services](https://nicepetservices.com/) in Villa Rica lists boarding at $40, doggy daycare at $25, dog walking at $35 per visit, grooming at $45 for small, $75 for medium and $85 for large dogs, a bath at $20, a trim at $30 and pickup and drop-off at $20. It notes that prices may vary.

Rover's [Carrollton grooming page](https://www.rover.com/carrollton--ga--pet-grooming/) gives platform-generated examples, including full-groom averages of $86 for small dogs and $211 for extra-large dogs, and says groomers set their own prices. For Douglasville, Covington and Carrollton, check the [DogServ directory](https://dogserv.com/directory/) for groomers near you, then confirm the current price directly with each provider.

If you run a business in one of those towns, link your menu or listing to your city page. A useful listing names your service area, service type, starting price, the variables that change a quote and how to book. That is also what a Spanish-speaking customer searching for a mobile groomer in a named town needs to see. You can [list your business](https://dogserv.com/directory/add-a-business/) in the [DogServ directory](https://dogserv.com/directory/).

![Shih Tzu with a neat trim sitting on a brick sidewalk beside a planter of crepe myrtles on a quiet small-town main street with a plain glass shop door behind](https://dogserv.com/blog/dog-service-prices-in-georgia/smaller-towns.jpg)

## What does a price have to cover?

Start with what you owe before the first dog arrives. The Georgia Secretary of State's [domestic LLC guide](https://sos.ga.gov/how-to-guide/how-guide-register-domestic-entity) lists a $110 paper filing fee, made of a $100 filing fee and a $10 service charge, and a $60 annual registration. That fee is a government filing charge, not the total cost of starting or running a business.

Then add the rest of the list:

- The local occupational tax certificate; the city or county sets the amount and the application.
- Insurance quoted for your actual services, vehicles, premises and employees. A general policy may not cover every activity, so see [dog business insurance](https://dogserv.com/dog-business-insurance/).
- Travel: driving time, fuel, vehicle upkeep, parking and the drive between stops.
- Supplies: shampoo, towels, dryers, blades, leashes, waste bags, cleaning products and bedding.
- Facility costs: rent, utilities, cleaning, repairs, fencing, climate control, staff and capacity.
- Payment and booking costs, taxes and professional fees.
- Holiday, cancellation and emergency scheduling.

A menu should not promise a particular profit. It should show you what each service costs to deliver, with a margin you chose on purpose.

## Which Georgia office sets the rules behind a price?

It depends on the service and the address, so ask the office that decides. For a kennel or pet dealer, the Georgia Department of Agriculture is the office. O.C.G.A. § 4-11-3 says a person may not act as a pet dealer or operate a kennel, stable or animal shelter without a valid license from the Commissioner of Agriculture, with an annual fee of at least $50 and no more than $400.

Georgia Department of Agriculture Rule 40-13-13-.03 allows the Commissioner or designated agents to inspect the premises and the animals housed there. Confirm with the department whether your operation falls in that classification before you publish a boarding or daycare price. Our [Georgia kennel license](https://dogserv.com/georgia-kennel-license/) and [Georgia dog business license requirements](https://dogserv.com/georgia-dog-business-license-requirements/) pages go deeper.

The city or county decides the rest. Georgia has no one local rule for every dog business, so ask your city or county these questions:

1. Do I need an occupational tax certificate or business license?
2. Is my address inside city limits or in unincorporated county?
3. Is a home occupation allowed for grooming, walking, sitting or boarding?
4. Are there limits on dog count, noise, parking, signs or customer visits?
5. Does a mobile van need a business-location or parking approval?
6. Does boarding or daycare need a zoning, fire or occupancy review?
7. Do I need a sales and use tax registration? Ask the Georgia Department of Revenue about your exact service.

HOA and lease rules can apply too. A state LLC filing answers none of these. For the tax question, see [Georgia sales tax on pet services](https://dogserv.com/georgia-sales-tax-on-pet-services/), and for startup steps see [starting a dog walking business in Georgia](https://dogserv.com/starting-a-dog-walking-business-in-georgia/) and [starting a dog grooming business in Georgia](https://dogserv.com/starting-a-dog-grooming-business-in-georgia/). Breeding has its own path in [breeding dogs in Georgia](https://dogserv.com/breeding-dogs-in-georgia/), and boarding is covered in [opening a dog boarding kennel in Georgia](https://dogserv.com/opening-a-dog-boarding-kennel-in-georgia/). If a rabies or bite question comes up, read [Georgia rabies law for dog businesses](https://dogserv.com/georgia-rabies-law-for-dog-businesses/) and [Georgia dog bite law for dog businesses](https://dogserv.com/georgia-dog-bite-law-for-dog-businesses/).

## What are the Spanish search words for each service?

Offer a Spanish version of your menu, using the service plus the town, such as "peluquería canina en Atlanta Georgia" or "cuidador de perros en Villa Rica." Put plain bilingual labels on your menu so the words match what customers type:

Bilingual menu labels

| English | Español |
| --- | --- |
| EnglishGrooming | Españolpeluquería canina |
| EnglishBath and haircut | Españolbaño y corte para perros |
| English30-minute dog walk | Españolpaseo de perros de 30 minutos |
| EnglishDrop-in visit | Españolvisita a domicilio para mascotas |
| EnglishOvernight sitting | Españolcuidado durante la noche |
| EnglishBoarding facility | Españolresidencia u hotel para perros |
| EnglishDaycare | Españolguardería canina |

Other phrases that customers use include "paseador de perros," "cuidador de perros," "hospedaje para perros" and "peluquero canino móvil." Send legal and tax questions to the named Georgia office, and keep Spanish for the words that help customers find you.

## Questions about Georgia dog service prices

Short answers for owners and operators.

### How much is overnight dog boarding in Atlanta?

Wag's Atlanta page reports about $50 per night, with most stays between $42 and $62, on data dated August 5, 2026. Spot for Dogs lists Atlanta suites from $54 to $102. Home care and a facility suite are different products, so compare the same type.

### How much is dog daycare?

Atlanta Pet Boarding lists $40 for a full day, $25 for a half day and $150 for a five-day full-day week. Spot for Dogs lists $33 for a full day and $22 for a half day. Ask whether extra-dog fees, food or add-ons are separate.

### Are wages the same as customer prices?

No. BLS reported Georgia May 2023 mean wages of $14.17 per hour for animal caretakers and $22.54 for animal trainers. Those are employee wage figures, not what a business charges and not owner revenue or profit.

### How much does basic dog grooming cost in Georgia?

A published Atlanta menu lists bath and brush from $65 for a small dog to $95 for an XL dog, and a full groom from $105 to $185. Another Atlanta shop lists starting full-groom prices from $80 to $115. A "starting at" price may change once the groomer sees the coat.

## What should you do next?

If you are an owner, pick the service, define the minutes or the size, and compare two or three local menus on the same terms before you accept a quote. If you run a business, write your menu with the time included, size bands, coat and matting rules, travel, extra dogs, holidays and special handling, and date it. Then call your city or county office and the Georgia Department of Agriculture about your exact setup. When your menu is ready, [list your business](https://dogserv.com/directory/add-a-business/) on the DogServ city page for your town so customers can find it.
